I was born with a passion to create art, so much so that I ate crayons as a child. Though the crayons made me sick, they did not diminish my love for the creative process. I earned a Bachelors and a Masters degree in art and have been creating artwork since.
"I enjoy the risk in creating but it can be a little nerve racking and sometimes just downright hard. I always have to remind myself that if things are too easy than there is no growth for me as an artist."
My artistic accomplishments include many different mediums, but I favor two-dimensional painting. Three of my oil paintings are on permanent display at the Lafayette County courthouse in Lexington, Missouri. My historical painting, depicting early life in Lafayette County, was part of a traveling exhibit at the Missouri State Capitol. I also spent five years researching and hand-designing a detailed historical map of Bourbon County, Kansas, which is still available for purchase.
I opened a gallery/studio, Old Drum Gallery and Trading Co. at 128 N. Holden Street in Warrensburg, Missouri in 2011. The gallery is studio space for me and a few other local artists have works in the gallery. View more of my paintings at the gallery or my gallery website at www.olddrumtradingco.com or at etsy at www.etsy.com. Type in Jo Narron and my shop should come up.
